We need to begin to consider actions which do things rather than chatting and just posting opinions... we need applications that challenge existing centralised operations by replacing them with an imaginative blockchain alternative...

Here is our plan to disrupt some fundamental cash-cows operating to fund huge corporations, who in turn use some funds to influence by lobbying elected officials - CLEAR CHANNEL, Google and JC Decaux etc.

The CityCoins and CityPortals projects are aimed at engaging the general public in city and urban areas to be aware of technology changes that can put themselves into a more pivotal role in their location.

By introduction of a CityCoin token currency which they purchase, a new infrastructure can be established to compete or replace current lopsided methods operating in the city, which favour only the operators that manage them.

Outdoor advertising is controlled by international corporations that extract wealth from the city infrastructure which they control, given away to them by the city authorities...! Our project reverses this situation into decentralized public ownership by utilization of blockchain technology.

The CityCoin funds a new lamppost located infrastructure, which we have designed.

Anyone can purchase these crypto currency coins which are expected to rise in value becoming a worthy asset. This is especially so when it’s known that coin holders receive a monthly payout share of the city advertising profits. A passive income is generated for all those engaged in holding the projects coins. This concept alone when understood should make CityCoins very valuable.

The project team have experienced members in building engineering structures that cope with digital displays and weather-proofed outdoor 24x7 digitally controlled public services. Others have WiFi-Mesh experience and others have operated city corporate communications networks. Importantly we have blockchain experience developers and coders and will construct our network with EOS Dapp underpinning.

For too long outdoor advertising has been a revenue honeypot for a small elite almost unknown set of corporations, and with greedy and oppressive new entrants such as Google entering with aims to add further profitability (to themselves) by digital monitoring of activities of the outdoor public. It is time to reverse this in favour of those that have no advantage from these existing and upgraded structures, yet are forced to view them.

Our project decentralizes the entire process and is publically funded by those that actually view the adverts; the advertising viewers thus become the owners of the system itself – a much fairer method. Funded by purchases of the CityCoin initial revenues, and sustained by advertising fees on the replacement Blockchain Lamp-post network – we aim for only one city adoption to show the world, which when publicized will begin a chain-reaction.

With a group of local citizens bidding for replacing the existing incumbents unfair monopoly it’s hard to envision city authority resistance as coin holders are also voters. When the public realise what has been given away to external profit centers by the city authorities whilst the same city authorities are imposing austerity measures on city services and the public, then public pressure should mobilise activity towards favouring decentralised public ownership. Contributors may also donate their rewards to local public services thus reducing some of the effects of cutbacks and austerity service diminution.

The outdoor street furniture advertising networks in our city centres have operated for decades, providing huge revenues for the infrastructure installers. Now with the advent of modern digital displays, they are set to increase their profitability and simultaneously monitor our activities, which will provide such operations with even more revenue avenues of increased profitability.

However in all this activity which is targeted upon you and me, the ordinary citizens, the general public, we gain no value from any of this activity; other than the promise of free WiFi to purchase advertised products. Not only will these new iterations of existing printed poster billboards gain huge revenues from advertising to us; they will also accrue extra profits by selling on our online activity trail to third parties.

In these scenarios the target of all this activity is - us the public, we are the subject that generates the wealth for these enterprises whilst nothing of real value is provided to those who have to view it.

There is a fairer option due to another layer of technology that has recently become available - the blockchain. This is the software method that underpins crypto currencies like Bitcoin. These technologies can operate the entire advertising sales process through all stages and onto a digital city display network (Smart Contracts). Such a network can be installed easily and at a low cost due to the new HDTV displays and microcomputers to run them (Raspberry Pie).

This concept can be fully financed by the sale of crypto currency tokens to the general public, to anyone who favours a more decentralized fairer system. By purchasing the proposed projects current tokens – CityCoins - an alternative network can be pitched to cities: coming from the grass roots – their citizens!

This could not have been achieved before the emergence of high quality low cost digital computerised screen displays combined with the emerging blockchain options. The incumbent monopolistic cartel-like controls over this business can now be freed to allow public ownership in a democratic commercial enterprise in which all parties gain benefit.

Thus all wealth creation stays local; empowering the local community instead of it all being extracted to some centralised distant monopolistic profit centre.

It is now an easy alternative to install and manage such systems over a public blockchain. The fact that a local (city) owned and self-financing operation can replace the incumbent centralised operations that give nothing to its audience, needs to be fully appreciated.
