Today I would like to discuss a recent update given by Popads .
For those who do not know, Popads is an advertising platform, similar to Google Adsense, a-ads, or even Adfly. The site specializes in Pop-Advertisements, but also offers Banner Ads. Their minimum payout is $5 for Publishers.
The first item that was discussed in their update was that they have a new side project called Adscore. This is a bot/proxy detection service for Advertising, which has already been integrated on to their main site. For publishers, this means that in the short term you will see an increase in impressions on your site, but a decreased average income. However, with the increase in traffic, it is expected to increase total profit by a few percent. How is this so you may ask? Before this new feature, all proxy/VPN traffic (up to 10% of traffic on some sites) had been blocked. Now Advertisers can purchase proxy traffic on the site, at a discounted price.
A second topic discussed is Google Chrome implementing built-in Adblock in July. This is already implemented in the US and EU, so it is just for the rest of the world. Adscore will automatically detect Google Bots and IPs and hide any of their ads located on your site. This will prevent you from being put on their adblock list (as long as the Ads you have include Adscore technology.)
The final topic is a new Advertising Type. The Floating Banner is a custom-sized banner, which floats along the bottom or any side of a website. The visiting user will be able to close the ad after a few seconds. This may result in high Pop Ad hits, which will increase your revenue. This feature is not yet running and is expected to drop on January 21st.
