Everybody started somewhere. Letter to a friend.
Do you remember that time in your life when you thought anything was possible? When you weren’t making excuses for not getting better at your craft? Maybe back when you used to get knocked down but had no problem getting back up?
Getting knocked down is nothing new. Every person who operates at a higher level, whether it is Danica Patrick or JayZ or Aristotle have been knocked down more pegs than you can imagine.
They get back up. Their decision can be your decision.
It would help to make friends with the struggle. That very struggle is making you better at your craft. It’s pressure, and pressure is how diamonds are made.
The thing that moves you, whether it is a voice, a race, or a script, took years of work. Years of that person getting back up again and again and sacrificing their time and effort instead of sitting on a couch watching a TV show. It is the small, incremental actions, done a thousand times again and again that add up to greatness.
If you want to realize your potential, or express whatever it is you feel like you need to unleash or be in this short life that you are given, you better learn to get back up.
One day you will wake up and be the person you imagined, all pieced together with choices you made yesterday and the day before and the day before.
Switch off feeling sorry for yourself because you are not white, or male, or black, or rich, or born in the Alps, or whatever. Get out that smartphone and record yourself singing and put it on YouTube (again) or go to the range and practice shooting (again) and again. Do it every damn day.
Remember, there are people in the world who would love to have your worst problem. Whether it’s a clogged toilet (running water is nice) or a bounced check (over a billion people in the world are “unbanked”, meaning they don’t even have an account to bounce a check from), your worst, if you’re reading this, is somebody else’s dream.
Get back to that time in your life when you thought anything was possible. Get back up, stay in the fight, and just keep going.

Amazing sentiment, much appreciated.
from The Robster :)
Hi Robster, this thought was inspired by two friends who are super talented but don't go above and beyond to make their dream come to fruition. It's almost like a cloud on top of them, they just need to stand up and get their head above it. The sunshine is on the other side. Thanks for enjoying it. xoLEE
Self-suppression is easily done. I've succumbed to it many times but I do occasionally get my head above the clouds ;)
Many thanks again :)
Great post! super encouraging. I can use some of that!
