I've met Charles Hoskinson, founder of IOHK and Cardano in early 2016 on one winter blockchain conference. That time gave to me a lot of tech insights and I was confident Charles is one of the most compos guy and scientist in the field of blockchain tech on that period.
We talked a lot about NXT and other Proof-of-Stakes, and we had a common general opinion that Proof-of-Stake (perhaps a bit modified) should be a base for future blockchain framework. Charles told me about his plans and suggest to play with Scorex - scientific and study modular blockchain project.
The Idea behind Scorex is an attempt to divide (ideologically and algorithmically) strongly connected older blockchain code base. It was not an easy task (cause each Bitcoin module or function solves a certain task in a very strict predefined manner) but Charles and his team managed to construct a framework with bordered consensus, p2p-network, transaction level and cryptography.
First days of 2018 I was a full of will to start work on my own building a blockchain project - Aeneas and it was clear to start it with scratch but with something like a base which could be useful in a hard situations.
I remembered words of Charles and considered a way to research a Scorex. It was no chance for alternative, cause in Q1 2018 Scorex was the only thing that was like framework open-sourced engine that could be used as a base for blockchain. We discussed it with my colleagues in our Aeneas core team and the way of modular blockchain platform building was chosen finally.
