Last year rains in Stavropol began around the end of August and ended at the end of May of this year. So I didn’t manage to make any beautiful pictures of ‘the golden autumn’. It seems I get my compensation in this year: It's now mid-November but the weather is still very good, as you can see :)
There are still a lot of leaves on the trees.
The streets are flooded with sunlight.
The houses on the streets are quite different. Some are already almost destroyed... well at least they badly need a good repair. New high-rise buildings with offices and apartments rise right next to them.
And even more of them coming soon.
Actually, the neighborhood of old houses and new ones is not uncommon in Russia, where a big gap between rich and poor populations exists. So you often can see something like this:
There are couple of more new buildings… This one had a very tempting roof to climb up :D
And these are examples of architecture and design of the Soviet period.
I chose this alley for a walk.
Due to the fact that it is now the morning of the day off, the streets are almost empty.
But some people clean the flower beds from fallen leaves in front of their houses.
I made some pictures with leaves while they still are there.
I don’t know why, but someone numbered trees in the city center about a year ago. Now they all have such iron plates with numbers. I wonder if the trees with pretty numbers have already developed a disparaging attitude to other trees with boring numbers?
That’s right… I think about very strange things sometimes ^_^
For example, who put a glove on this tree?
You noticed the glove, right? Here it is ;)
Or who lives in this hollow?
No-one probably…
Or when this pigeon realized that nuts are good for the brain: before it started eating one or in the process? :D
An old Soviet bus letting a woman out on a bus stop. There is also a brand new poster with the words "Russia unites". Whom? What for? What does this even mean? And a hashtag #weareunited. And, now it has become clearer... The most powerful political party in Russia is ‘United Russia’. It's not the time for elections yet, but why not to start preparing people for their bright future in advance? Using regional money instead of money of the political party…
A bottle with a very recognizable logo in the trash.
A busy parking space.
Dear what are you doing on the balcony for so long?
I'm eating the harvest!
you are probably aware that one can post-process your great pictures. i took the liberty to process one just for fun below, hope its ok wih you
feel free to post-process them any way you want leeuw :) but what picture is it? it looks so original that i can't recognise what it was before
Thanks! i used the 4th photo of your ‘A log in a summer forest’ posting. Nature in particular and even human made objects offer many sources for positive inspiration as you let the viewers of your photos discover
ah, now i can see what picture it is! it looks very colourful and futuristic now, i like it ^_^
Thank you for having allowed my playful photo processing. btw the last photo with the bird on the branch taken from below Hitchcock ‘the birds’ classic movie comes to mind easily but you are waaay too young to know that movie :))
oh Hitchcock - a great name but you are right i didn't watch his movies :) When i was student i was visiting cinema-club where we watched arthouse movies, the narrator (my teacher at university and a colleague in the public service later) told as the stories about these movies and then we watched them... But i remember only 'Wild Strawberries' of Bergman and 'The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover' - last one isn't very old, the young Tim Roth is in it (but don't watch it if you don't want to loose your appetite)! :))
wow, that's a lot of great stuff - very nice photos !!!
thank you Andy! ^_^
GREAT post with a lot of beautiful pictures, thank`s for shearing :)
Thank you so much @karja! ^_^
oh, i just noticed that i didn't follow you... it has been fixed! ^_^
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year with the changing of the leaves and nature getting ready for the winter. When I lived in New York we saw many beautiful colors but in Hawaii, everything tends to remain green. I can see that there are more and more building being built with less individual houses with such history. I guess that is progress. The grapes must be such a treat to be able to pick and ear right off of the vine. Thank-you for your wonderful pictures and experience! Hope you are well my friend!!!
Im just fine my dear @cabbagepatch :) I love autumn! And i must admit i missed it last year when everithing we had were rains since the end of summer... and i've never been in the place with forever summer :) maybe one day... Yes, we don't have many new individual houses in big cities, but there are plenty of them in smaller ones. Have a very nice day!
Wow that was one incredible walk, you have so much to show us today. I enjoyed the musings of your mind, thanks for including that it really made me feel I know you better :) Created intimacy. Now I'm wondering about the effects of certain numbers on trees too...LOL!
The crow at the end was a sweet touch and your GOT reference :) Crows are my favourite bird, they're such a delight and so smart.
It's really kind that the folks growing the grapes will share them with anyone, I love that! #FoodIsFree!!!
You know what it's like - you go for a walk taking pretty much the same route and yet you see so many new things only because you are ready to see them. Your words are very inspiring and they made me wanting to share more things that i see and experience with you. Thank you Lyndsay! ^_^
And also thank you for a link on #FoodIsFree page, i like the idea of it and followed it for more participation :)
Ooh that's so great that you are now following @foodisfree!! It is a wonderful movement!!
