One cool winter morning we were on a Game Drive in Mabula Private Game Reserve in South Africa when in the bush, far away from the nearest body of water, we spotted a Hippo grazing. Hippo are known to move far from water to find grazing in the night. This was the first time I had witnessed this in the day time. Rather unusual.

These are very dangerous animals are responsible for a number of human fatalities every year. Many attacks by Hippo on small boats are unprovoked.

Damn that must have been really exciting to watch this grand animal from so close. I've seen hippos but just in zoo which in Mumbai. When I was a kid I used to stress out just by thinking how different each creature looks thinks and behaves. Damn that was some serious question.

Hippos are amazing creatures. Maybe one day you’ll have a chance to see one in the wild.

Good post, I follow you, I hope it is useful for me and for you.

Thank you

I saw a show about an angry hippo, they really are the most badass animals on earth. This guy took on elephants and rhinos, bullied prides of lions, it feared nothing and everything else was scared of him, I would love to see one in the wild, from a safe distance.

hippo can be dangerous when riding on a small boat.
i rather have a view than experiencing the saga. nice post.

I guess the wind was in the right direction so he could not smell the people around him (or her ) You were very lucky!
