I am a Moslem, I am not a terrorist! أنا مسلم و لست إرهابيا
Islam, which means basically "salam سلام" or peace, has been accused of traumatizing deeds related to what comes to be known as terrorism. The latter came to the geopolitical scene mainly after the deadly acts of the 9/11 in America followed by a direct military intervention in Iraq under the banner of bringing democracy to the Iraqi regime.
Well, no one would dare to claim that 9/11, Charlie Hebdo acts or the latest in Barcelona were just a matter of nightmare. Dozens of innocent people were shut down dead for no sensible reason. We are not for violence or killing no matter the reason would be; yet we must be very clear and so cautious when throwing nicknames such as terrorist or killer the same way we are with nigger.
Your legitimate question would be: who is the terrorist then if they are not Moslem? Well, no one is a terrorist by nature! Everyone might be a terrorist or at least a project to be one! How?
Islam like Christianity, Judaism, or any other religion is a set of laws and rules that organize and explain the world in a certain way including manners, rituals, and other components that might include politics. The way any religion is understood has always been a problem since it stands on people's minds, cultures, and generally their environment. In Bush speech just before invading Iraq, he claimed that that war is a "NOBLE or a SACRED" war which gave it a certain religious cover.
No doubt, the war in Iraq has made hundreds of victims among them women, trees, children, animals, old people and military forces, needless to mention the economical and material loss. The war in Iraq or what's taking place in the Golf is kind of legitimate for reasons that no one is really sure of. Quite the same reasons a terrorist would have to defend something that s/he is not even aware of! How?
Colonization came to enlighten Africa and Asia, Bush's war in Iraq is to share the democratic experience with Sadam's country and to fight nuclear weapons - no democracy so far, no nuclear weapons were discovered- ... Terrorism is just an act of taking revenge and of fighting for a certain wrong-or-right belief (for me it's totally wrong)... They believe that it is a duty to take revenge for women and children who are daily massacred in Iraq and other places of the world.
This should not be understood as a reason that I personally believe in. I am a Moslem and Islam is not terrorism the same way you might be an white American and not a war-defender or a racist.
Terrorism as well as well as the war are just a political game for other reasons. They produce thousands of victims each year and damage hundreds of lives! The curse has not ever been the philosophical idea of democracy or the religious idea of Islam, it will never be being Moslem or Christian or any other religion's believer. The problem is in understanding the political game.
Politics, whatsoever, its basis is believes in benefit! One has an idea, s/he starts fighting to widespread it no matter what it takes. Yes, we are all aware that people believe that Islam is encouraging them to explode inside a train or a stadium and kill as much as possible to guarantee a place in the promised paradise; but never believe that they got the right understanding. You got to know that Islam came to bring people from not to take them to hell and this is exactly the missing link!
I am a Moslem, I respect you the way you are, the way you think, and the way you believe! I do not care too much about your religion or any other thing. I do care only about the way you behave towards me!
Beyond your Islam or Christianity ... We share humanity!
