Introduction
After winning the first round of the Age of Empires II @steemleague , I played the semifinals of round #2 today. My opponent was @bigmeat who didn't participate in round #1. So I didn't know what to expect.
However I had practiced a few hours since last time and also checked out some small youtube tutorials. So I was confident :)
Enough talking, let's come to the games...
Game 1 - Arabia
The first game was supposed to be played on *Arabia" which is an really open land map with few trees and little to no water. So unlike the games from last round, walling my base was definitely not an option this time.
Here is my base after like a minute gametime. Maybe you can spot one thing I started doing - scouting with unused sheep as well before eating them :)
Since walling wasn't an option, I went straight for some Militia. However, when I wanted to attack @bigmeat, I had to see that he already had outnumbered me by far.
So I choose to save some ressources and quickly hit Feudal Age. Now I could upgrade my Militia to Man at Arms. With this advantage in technology, I could easily beat the soldiers from @bigmeat.
After beating up his army I went straight to his base and finished game #1 in my favor!
While his base was destroyed, mine was set up quite nice at the end. See the formation I built up my buildings in? Putting your buildings up as kind of a wall around your base is another thing I took from youtube!
This just provides some extra security against enemy raids. Fortunately, I didn't come to any this game.
Game 2 - Continental
The second match was played on Continental. This is basically a big island which also has many rivers within. So I was expecting some water action. But let's start with my base and my sheep-scouting as well.
For additional food income, I quickly got some fishing ships out. This is just such a nice boost for a Dark Age economy. Another thing I learned the past days: Go for deepwater fish! It collects way faster then the fish in the shadow waters!
With my strong economy I was able to quickly get into the Castle Age. And then I tried something, which already worked awesome against @kodieamos and @juicy-shark.
Once I had collected and bought enough stone, I grabbed a bunch of villagers and tried to put down a forward castle.
And what shall I say - it worked once more! After the castle had been built to 100% I produced a few Huskarls. This made @bigmeat resign and taking me to the finals of round #2!
In those finals I will face @kodieamos who won a close match over @juicy-shark! Let's see, if he can take revenge for his loss in last rounds semifinals against me!

Absolutely love the AoE games, and really played them a lot as a kid! Never really got that good at it though. :(
Still nice to see there's still tournaments like this around :)

Excellent, I started getting afraid for you. I'm looking forward to reading your update and see how far you've gotten. I've been having some difficult periods, having to adjust to being in different countries recently, but I've kept it up. Have a look at my posts.

I have read that post - however it doesn't give any detail. Dont see the purpose for now!
