The only men that we know of that managed to live for more then 200 years is: Li Ching-Yuen . Event thou we have some proof that his story is correct it doesn't have the necessary scientific proof that we need to create a subconscious shift that immortality is possible.
If you regard the bible as more then fiction, the old testament is full with stories of people living to be hundreds and even thousands years old, but that up until the flood, after the flood there is a steady decline in longevity. It seems that the change in diet, a change in a post-world flood or a genetic drift has caused it.
What interested to note and a fact that might help us shift to immortality is that almost all disease are in some way connected to aging since aging affect all tissue in the end it is just a matter of coincidence what tissue will break first.
So fighting disease at the root cause is fighting aging.
If you look in the animal kingdom aging is not experienced the same way. The jellyfish Turritopsis nutricula, basically lives forever by going back to their embryonic state the polyp and then differentiate back to a grown jellyfish, thus there us no need for dying and possibly memory is preserved.
Another interesting animals are lobsters, lobsters dont show any signs of aging in fact research shows that older lobsters are stronger and more fertile then younger ones. However they dont live for ever the problem is that at some point as they become larger and larger they cannot moult anymore and die. Research suggest that they defy aging by expressing telomerase in their somatic cells.

Indeed free radical theory is the leading theory in aging, i myself supplement with Glutathione omega 3 and 5, thanks for the comment.
