Lets talk on the effect of drug abuse on our health, first, What is drug abuse?
Drug abuse is the habitual taking of illegal drugs, and this is what we see amoung our youths today, which is disastrous to the brain and our body components.
DRUG ABUSE INFORMATION CLEARLY STATES THAT DRUG ABUSE IS AN EXTREME DESIRE TO OBTAIN, AND USE INCREASING AMOUNT OF ONE OR MORE SUBSTANCE. Drug abuse is a generic term for the abuse of any drug, including alchol and cigarettes.
Drug abuse is a very serious public health problem that affect almost every community and family. Each year drug abuse causes diseases and injuries amidst us.
Let me mention a few of the causes of drug abuse, though i would like to make it a topic on it own, if you want more on the causes and solutions, you can request for more.
Some of the causes according to NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON DRUG ABUSE are
1). Unstable home environment
2). Poor relationship with parents
3). Influence of peer pressure
4).poor acheivements in school
5). Availability of the drugs in the community, amidst others.
EFFECTS OF DRUG ABUSE ON THE BRAIN
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter present in regions of the brain that controls movement, emotion, motivations, and feeling of pleasure. The overstimulation of this system, normally respond to natural behaviour which are connected to survival like eating, and spending time with loved ones produces a feeling of excitement in response to the drug. This reaction causes people to repeat the behavior of abusing drug.
As a person continues to abuse drug, the brain adapt to the dopamine surges thereby producing less dopamine. The user must keep on abusing the drug to bring his dopamine function back to normal or use more drugs in an attempt to get dopamine high.
Long term abuse of drugs causes changes in other brain chemical system and circuit. Studies have shown that those who abuse have show changes in the area of decision making, learning and memory, and behaviour .
Furthermore drug abuse could cause memory loss as we saw in my last post. It could also lead to some lunatic display and also causing the individual to make rash decisions.
CURE
The most important one is prevention, try not to get too used to a drug
Help youths and the general public know the effect of drug addiction like i'm doing now.
At this point, i drop my pen for a while.

Drug abuse is certainly one of the main problems in the world right now, as you say, central nervous system and many other organs are seriously injured. The problem does not end there, it promotes criminal behavior and phsycological impairment. As a member of the medical community I am glad that people, like you, post about important things and create awareness within Steemit members. I look foward into future posts. Followed and upvoted.

Thanks, i have followed back, drug abuse is a serious issue in our world today, i guess our teenagers don't actually know the effect on our brain and body chemistry. It is causing havoc to our community and therefore we must stand out to create awareness and map out strategy to curb this canker worm eating deep into our society, that was why i painstakenly took time to research and write on the effect. I would propably be making more post on that later so as to make people more aware of the effect of the menace. Thanks.
