To get it you need to transfer a 0 ETH to the smart contract, To give all equal chances of getting one, the contract only hands out 30 eggs per 6 hours.
Each timeslot starts at either 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 or 18:00, London time.
if your transaction fails it means eggs in the time slot when you tried were already assigned to other people.
To invoke the smart contract function without issue you should have a gas of at least 50000.
Referral Egg! Free!
The other way of getting free eggs is via referrals
3 referrals for a common egg (0.01 ETH)
10 referrals for an uncommon egg (0.05 ETH)
20 referrals for a rare egg (0.20 ETH)

and it keeps going till a Legendary egg, (you ‘ll need to be popular for that), legendary according to dev team:
