Airsoft for Beginners - Tips and Tricks for the Rookie

in #airsoft7 years ago

Airsoft is a great sport for those who have the desire and energy to engage in pretend combat with other airsoft enthusiasts.

People of all ages, skill levels, and from all walks of life engage in airsoft play. It is a sport that uses the brain as well as the body, and for this reason it is loved by people all across the world.

Just as it is with any other game, there is a lot to learn for airsoft beginners.

Those who play have got to learn the ins and outs of the rules of the various games that are played with soft air guns.

At the same time, there are certain pieces of knowledge that can only be acquired through playing Airsoft games. To help get any beginner off on the right foot, here are some tips and tricks to keep in mind.

Tips for Airsoft Players

  • While airsoft does not hurt as much as paint ball does, it is important to wear proper protective clothing. Long sleeves and long pants should be adequate cover to protect against the sting of plastic pellets from a soft air gun.

  • Always wear eye protection. While they may not seem like much, plastic pellets from a soft air gun can cause serious damage to your eye(s). Wear goggles at all costs; it is amazing how fast such a small object can make it into such a sensitive area.

  • Knee pads are a good idea during play, especially for players who plan to be crouching and crawling on the ground.

  • It is a good idea to own various types of airsoft guns, just to keep your game as well rounded as possible.

  • Plastic guns are great and they can save a person a great deal of money, but they tend to break when they are used a great deal. For this reason, if you purchase a plastic airsoft gun be sure that it is not your only one.

  • The best automatic weapons hold more than 500 rounds. They may cost more, but they can prevent you from having to constantly reload.

  • When ordering an Airsoft gun, be sure to read all of the fine print. Make sure there is a warranty, if possible. Good airsoft guns are not cheap, and you want to protect yourself against all possibilities.

  • Getting dirt in an airsoft gun barrel can allow it to get into the chamber. This can mess up the inner mechanism and cause problems. If you find out that there is dirt in your gun barrel, all you have to do is blow it out.

  • Guns last longer with proper maintenance. Clean your Airsoft gun after every use, and keep it in a safe place.

  • There are targets sold wherever airsoft guns and supplies are sold. Use them to build up your aim and get better in between airsoft games.

  • Airsoft and paintball are different. The sooner you learn that, the better. ;-)

  • Airsoft ghillies are great for defensive competition. These are very helpful for those players who want to blend into the environment and get the advantage during play.

  • The more gear you carry, the harder it is to run. You need to be as light on your feet as possible so only carry what you have to during play.

  • Gas powered Airsoft guns are great, but they tend to run out of gas fast. This requires you to have to carry extra gas or guns, neither of which tends to be very much fun.

  • Spring powered guns are an airsoft favorite. If in doubt, go with a spring powered gun.

  • Honesty is the best policy. Without the honor system, airsoft is not possible. If you know you have been hit, please be honest about it.

  • Different people use accessories differently. While some airsoft players can do without airsoft grenades and such, others would rather have those extras. It is up to you.

  • When choosing an airsoft gun, buy a reputable brand. Cheap guns get cheaper results!

  • Don't show off your gun to others in public. They may have orange tips on them, but they are built to look like real guns and can easily be mistaken for one. This is one of the first and foremost significant elements to consider when it comes to airsoft safety.

  • Have fun! Don't take airsoft too seriously. Poor sportsmanship is definitely frowned upon, just as much as violating the honor system. If you don't do well, keep trying. Airsoft is a game, a sport, nothing to get sore over. :-)

These are just a few of the many things that you will learn over time as you play airsoft more and more.

Purchasing airsoft guns, getting experienced in the games, and gaining skill happen over time.

Some facets of airsoft safety and control are a bit more work to grasp than others, but all will come to you as you gain more and more experience!

The main mistake of beginners is of course "the desire to be a sniper". There are no snipers in airsoft. There are "marxman" (a fighter with a relatively long-range airsoft weapons in the group). There are some individuals who manage to play the sniper, but it is rather a very rare exception.sniper.png
