With 75 rounds loaded, wind the key 4 full turns or 8 half turns. If loaded with 30 rounds, wind the key 3 full turns or 6 half turns.
I have never tried to run 76 rounds. However, from the feel of the spring, 75 rounds is the proper load.
After I closed the latch, the bullet in the neck did not have the proper spring to it. Therefore, I opened the lid and pressed the spring release, and then you can see the bullets take proper position. One of the bullets must have hung up. After the lid is closed you can check that the bullets are set properly by gently pushing on the neck bullet and feeling for a good spring action.
There are 2 of these drums in my stock; after 30 empties, there have been no malfunctions with either drum, using this method.
