Ask Me Anything - In Text First...Dlive Next?

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I figured today that I would rather spend time in the comment section answering whatever questions you have than writing a post for an hour or two.

I've never done this before and it may be something that proves to be useful to you.

You can literally ask me anything. I've been around here since before the first payout, I have a good understanding of where steem was, is and where it's going. If you want to ask stuff about my personal life, that's okay too.

Also, let me know if you would like me to do that with DLIVE so that we can livestream an AMA and see my face instead of text.

This is it! Ask me anything!

OK, three questions:

What would have to change in your particular situation to make Steeming full-time be more valuable than your "day job"? The stuff you recently wrote about needing six figures to fulfill your role as a husband and father made it seem like you might be not so far off.

People keep looking at your 'net worth' here and asking variations on what can I, as a newbie, do to reach your level of success? And you basically keep answering "find a way to be valuable". But how much of your situation is just first-mover advantage and n00bs simply won't ever reach your SP? (I'm genuinely not sure what my own account will look like if I keep this up over the next two years, but it's on my mind that maybe I missed the golden days.) ((OTOH, I agree that the value of Steem is going no where but up, so maybe the silver days ahead will be sufficiently rewarding. :-) ))

I have the impression that you're a pretty straight Libertarian, what do you think about the UBI trend in real-world econo-politics?

Thanks man. I wouldn't want to go full time in steem for now and be completely dependent on that source alone since the price is so volatile. I don't want my family to be stressed about the price of steem. Who knows? A major bubble could pop anytime. So having a steady baseline from a job is a nice place to stand on.

For sure I had a first mover advantage but I can't stop thinking about all the people I told back then to get in who just wouldn't. Not only was I at the right place at the right time but I also was the right person for it. Still, adding value was always in the equation. I've seen people who were there when I got started and didn't build a large SP holding like I did.

The golden days will always be relative. The day STEEM is at $100, people will still say that they missed the boat when it was at $3.

I'm puzzled about UBI to be honest. People need function...for non-conscientious people it may prove to be a disaster since they naturally don't have the inclination to work.

I am glad to see you mention that about being the right person.

Over the last few months I wrote some posts about the "whales" being lucky to take advantage of 6 or 7 cents STEEM and being able to load up.

I recall writing one post stating that the same people complaining were not loading up on STEEM at $.85.

Today we are at $3 and those people who were complaining missed the boat. Now they can whine about how "lucky" I was to have been able to buy at $.85.

Being in a place is one thing, pulling the trigger is another. That is what most fail to realize.

You might have been lucky to be in the right place at the right time but the fact you took advantage of the situation had nothing to do with luck.

Of all the things great about Steem, what for you is the number one best aspect of this platform?

The amazing comment section! There are no trolls here! Also, that has more social media platform grows on top of steem, all my fans will remain with me.

I have had bad luck with Bittrex. I'm now using Binance, but they don't have Steem and there is a serious lag. Any recommendation on an exchange that can take the place of Bittrex.

Sorry to hear that. What happened? There are already a few alternatives listed on coinmartketcap I believe.

For some reason Bittrex removed BTG from their exchange early on like it never existed. That lasted until the next day. When BTG was returned to the exchange, my BTG wallet and history was wiped clean. (I spent a little over 4 ETH) No explanation whatsoever. I provide a support ticket with screenshots of ETH currency used to pay for it. There is no record of the ETH exchange to BTG or a transfer out of Bittrex. That was over a month ago. There has been no evidence of anyone working the support ticket. All I ever get is an automated email stating if my problem has been resolved, to close the ticket. There is no phone number to call to get help.

Well, looks like I got to the party late, but here goes:

Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash? Why?

how i can got soo many upvote like you any advance?

wow soo great for me i got 1.49 never get that much what i make it for deserve that much ?

I have people who are my fans on steemauto.com, the fans who are "good fans" (that comments thoughful good comments) gets upvoted in my comment section.

It's cool that you're doing an AMA, @cryptoctopus! My question is pretty simple: what can we followers expect from you in 2017? What will you focus on writing about?

I tried "focusing" on topic in the past but in the end, I hit a roadblock everytime I constrain myself. I think I will focus mostly on my fans and providing tools for them to succeed on steemit. I'm doing this with the steemauto features, upvoting my comment section, get feedback and delivering what you guys want me to deliver. That way we can have a conversation.

That's a good idea to interact with the fans, rarely people do such kind of activities, thanks for that. My question is what's your views on steem for the coming year. I request you to keep on posting such stuff that help your fans to improve their blog.

A question @cryptoctopus trick that anecdotes has happened this 2017 and not forget

DLIVE would be great. My question is will the cryptocurrencies replace the fiat currencies in the future.

What a sensational idea....I might have to try this at some point.

Here is my question:

What do you think things will look like after the next hard fork and the implementation of communities and SMTs?

If I understand, we will have a Reddit type situation with subreddits possible (sub-steems?).

And what does all this do to the earning potential of those who are coming on here?

Do you think next year is going to be good for steemit?

Are you going to invest in others cryptos? Which ones?

Do you think new users still have an opportunity to succeed here on steemit?

I'm a sucker for graphene type projects. EOS, Bitshares, Peerplays and Steem. I'm the most bullish about steem because of the sheer volume of development going on both within Steemit Inc and in the community. No other projects even come close in my opinion.

OK, this is the problem I am having and don't know who else to ask... so any idea why I cannot get JAXX to shapeshift? I have a little bitcoin in there, would like to move most of it to etherium and litecoin but it won't move.

probably that you fees are set too low. I have transfer bitcoin to bitcoin cash yesterday. I paid $36 in fees and it's still not through.

Hmmm... thanks. I was using the "max" button, thought it was calculating that for me. SO much to learn about all this, thanks for your help!

Thanks @cryptoctopus. I really love what you are doing. I always long for your post and today you have done something really wonderful. Taking your time to answer our questions.

Why is the rise of Steem dependent on the launch of SMT? Aren't there other factors that could make it rise?

The whole alt-coin market is up. I wouldn't say that it's up because of SMTs at this point since they arent' out and aren't bringing capital in the ecosystem yet.

Ok Thanks.
What about SBD do you think it will ever return to it $1 mark?

Would love to see a live stream on DLive.
What're your thoughts on how one can encourage an existing follower base on Instagram on to steemit?

which thing would be best...buy steem power or steem delegation..?
and where you get that sunglasses ..?

When SBD is over $10...delegation for sure since you can upvote your own posts, get more visibility, more upvotes, etc. Then turn those SBDs into STEEM to powerup!

Thanx

you make vacation with donation here in steemit or youre own money i love this place where you are beautifull

after a year from now how much do you think steem price cloud be

With SMTs / hivemind / hf20 coming out, I wouldn't be surprised if we visited the $100

My forecast also....

😁

How likely is it that Steem will reach the $ 5 mark and consolidate on it?

very very likely in my opinion.

Oh yeah, that would be great!

The most noteworthy topics at Steem are always on bitcoin and making money.Do you think, quality contents in different areas will also noteworthy here?

yes, all communities are valuable. #life and #photography are actually the tags with the most payout. It will become a much better experience when communities will roll out...soon I hope!

The money earned is not really important to me, but I just want to see that what people share really gets what they deserve. This answer really gave me hope. Thank you for your interest. From now on i also believe in the steaming magic and promise to share my knowledge !

hello, I'm relatively new to Steem, I like what you do and your blog, so I want to ask how you have achieved this level on Steem and what are you doing in life?

Hi @frankl1in! I work from home. I operate a marketing agency in the resort industry and I do steem part time. I've achieved this level by writing blogposts, always trying to find ways to add value to the community by connecting people and projects. I was also there right from May 2016 when no payout was done yet and nobody believed that being paid to blog could be a thing. I've written a few posts about my story. Feel free to check them out for more details. :-)

thank you it's interesting, I will certainly get acquainted with your first posts for information :) And what is the goal you are trying to achieve on Steem?

Hey, first of all, I love that you're doing a Q&A.

Where are you from and how old are you? + where do you think Steem will take us?
thanks in advance.
Have a great holiday

I'm 31 and I'm from a little town north of Montreal in Canada. I think Steem will take us TO THE MOON. Jokes apart, I think the possibilities are endless and that's why I'm here.

Thanks for the quick answer. I would glad if you check out my Steemit blog and give me advice on how to get to more audience.
appreciate it!

How did you get 43 votes minute after the post has been posted?

He has more than 7k followers.

I give special privileges for people who set themselves up as my "fans" on steemauto.com. :-) Read my previous post to see what I mean.

Yeah, discovered steemauto recently.
Thanks. It just seemed appropriate to ask.

What you think about the flag war drama that happens here? Does berniesanders have merits in what he tries to do?

I try to stay away from politics. Me and bernie have had a rocky relationship. I'm a big fan of things like steemcleaners and cheetah though.

what you think best crypto except steem for 2018? want to diversify for 2018, just top3-5

I'm not the best trader and figure that I could only HODL projects I believe in.
Apart from Steem:

  1. EOS
  2. Bitcoin Cash
  3. IOTA

@cryptoctopus - Sir what's the best to keep, STEEM or SBD?

+W+

I'm not a betting man, SBD isn't suppose to do what's it's doing. I feel safer with STEEM.

@cryptoctopus,
Why STEEM is still highly devalued? Any thought about it?

<< This is a nice thought too, you made a wonderful selfie there >>
Cheers~

@cryptoctopus,
Thank you friend! This is an iterating question for me!

Cheers~

Do you plan to ever cash out, and if yes, what would need to happen to trigger this decision?

What is the secret to get more followers. I am new here and I posted good staff, but I feel that it's difficult to get new followers. Thank you @cryptoctopus for being open to answer.

  1. Add value to the community (or find whales you can add value to)
  2. Connect with people and build your network
  3. You might want to consider investing in SteemPower or buy delegation to gain more visibility in the hot/trending.

The more SP you have, the easier it is to gain visibility. More visibility = more followers.

Thank you for answering me.

How did you find out steemit?

In 2013 I got interested in bitshares. @fuzzyvest told me about it on skype.

Hai boss...pleas check out mybpage and show me some love..am new here..Thanks

What according to you is the best cryptocurrency to invest in as of now?

For long term gains...steem without a doubt.

Okay, Electroneums talk about simulated phone mining.
Think thats a potential good investment?

If you dont mind, how many SP you start steemit with, and what is the advise for the newbies to reach on to your level, what they need to :-

  1. Continuously doing?
  2. Avoid it completely?

I started with 5 SP almost 2 years ago:-)

  1. Find ways to add value to the community and write about it (Starting meetup groups, providing services built on top, participate in the github, participate in utopian.io, etc.)
  2. Avoid begging for votes and follow

Thanks @cryptoctopus, i would follow the wonderful advise, perhaps meetup groups i can do and would check out utopian.io, but others not much of IT savy, thus not a programmer.. :)
Nice one on no begging for votes and follow, let your quality and contribution bring the upvotes and followers, well noted.. thanks... :)

What do you say about the vote buying here, is this healthy for the platform?

  1. There is a market demand for vote buying
  2. It happens voluntarily between 2 parties
  3. There is no way to stop this from happening

In time, with more apps, communities and more users, I don't think it will be much of an issue...if it ever was.

@cryptoctopus, who's this handsome guy with lovely sun-glass. Nice matching couple. Love more. image seems power of the steemit delegation.

How can i get a more up votes and earning tell me bro..@cryptoctopus

  1. Add value to the community
  2. Network
  3. Write about how you add value and how you are helping the steem community be better.

Is there tension between EOS and @Ned since a dev can rebuild Steem and upcoming SMTs on EOS?

Ok just tell me till how long SBD will be above 10 value...

If ur prediction come true then it will be a great help.

have a great day.

1 Are you worried about the inflation rate of Steem?
2 If you could only follow 3 people on Steemit who would they be?

Hey, i have some question about Steem dolars, Do you know why prize of steem dolars fired up? As a know the steem dolars should be equivalent to US Dolars, but now is 12 time more expensive? What is going on?

Have you seen the new Star Wars? What do you think about it?

Any speculations... How much price SBD would touch?

What do you think the content will look like in Steemit over the next year? Do you see the posts being more project oriented like Utopian?

A good post. I have a question. Why are payments for the post and for comments increased due to the unstable course, during 7 days and they are reflected, and the conclusion is only the amount that was weary?

I don't know if you are using something like google translate...I really don't understand what you are asking.

I THINK they are asking why the "pending payout" is different from the actual payout? Maybe?

Hello @cryptoctopus, what do you think of a new front end site to steem that would replace stackoverflow with a @utopian-io model for curation?

Steem is a zero-fee, near instant settlement blockchain that already processes more transactions per second than the Bitcoin or Ethereum networks. But nobody outside of the site talks about using Steem as a payment method. What has to change in 2018 for this to happen?

Also - not a fan of DLIVE. Makes it harder to follow conversations between people if there isn't an actual comment to respond to.

I think this feature will become more apparent once we have a decentralized exchange and ICO mechanism in place. Also a chatbox with transfer embedded would be awesome.

@cryptoctopus which are the best tags to post, looks like more people are interested in certain topics.

Hello, and tell me how to withdraw money from the purse?

excellent journey and nice moment, which name this place, thanks for sharing

Thanks! It's close to Tulum in Mexico. Coba I think is the name.

Thank you for this opportunity. I relatively new here.

  1. How do you enjoy more visibility on steemit?
  2. What would you suggest, keeping SBD or using it to buy steem or steem power?
  3. How do you grow in reputation?
Last one: 4. What has worked for you in here and what message would you like to pass to me as a newbie based on what you have learned and the mistakes you have made? Thank you. As you can see, i asked rookie kind of questions.

Great shots@cryptoctopus ...... nicely smile moments and what camera did you use to get the shots on the photo? Incredible scenery, colours and very well composed keep up the great work!
