The young California company Energous has registered a wireless device to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that can charge at the same time several mobile devices within a radius of 90 centimeters. The device operates on the Wireless Charging 2.0 standard with the conversion of electrical energy into radio waves.
The new charger also supports the WattUp Mid Field standard, which in theory allows charging devices up to 4.5 meters. The range of WattUp is much smaller, but Energous promises to gradually increase the effective distance to the maximum.
If approved by the FCC, the development will be presented at the CES 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which will take place from January 9-12.
