The smooth paved road to Mount Evans

in #ambulorbis6 years ago

Only 60 miles from west of Denver, the Mount Evans scenic byway is the highest surfaced and smooth road in North America. So your trip to the mountain summit is now as easy as the walk in the park with the paved auto road ahead of you.
From Memorial Day onwards to Labor Day, you will find that the byway is usually open. On your way to the paved road, you would see the beautiful crystal clear waters of Echo Lake which are situated on the downward slope of Mount Evans. Along with an attractive sightseeing point, this lake also serves as a mountain park that fosters lovely picnics and a tranquil environment for mind relaxation. Furthermore, the lake on Mount Evans Scenic Byway also allows delightful facilities of fishing and a spectacular view of snow-capped peaks of Mount Evans.

From bumpy to smooth straight road:
The road would take you almost 45 minutes to reach the mountain summit. Driving at the bottom is quite easy, but just before the Echo Lake, the road starts to get rough and jerky. The bumpiness goes for about half a mile and then you would see a smooth straight path ahead for a long climb. After that, get ready for the hairpin curves. It would be best for you if you get a parking space at the top. This space is not the real top of the mountain, but its a place where hikers stop and have a terrific view. So with fantastic scenery, the drive up and down the Mount Evan scenic byway is highly recommended.

Wild ride
The ride to the mountain summit is wild especially on the switchback road as it has no guard railings. Nevertheless, it is astounding to leave the city busy life and get closer to nature at the beautiful place through the highest paved road in a short time.

A little side trip
On your way from Denver with family to any other nearby place, you can take the Mount Evan Scenic Byways as a bit of side trip. The little trip would add extra hours, but it is worth it. The whole family would give a thumbs up sign about experiencing views, wildlife especially the mountain sheep and the stretching of legs on the top after short hikes.
