Had to look up raintree and can see a few different possibilities there, some of which do look a bit like it.
I did actually speak to a local in St Augustine who told me the trees were oak trees, some of them over 500 years old. What makes them special is the Spanish moss which clings to the branches.
Our oak trees in France don't look much like these!
Oh, we have ferns that ended up on the branches of many raintree here.
I don't think we have any 500 years old tree and it will probably be rare if there is any oak here.
