We live in between two medium-sized cities, here in Northern Germany, in a village of about 1,200 people. It’s a farming village with dairy farms that are still operating on Main Street directly in the middle of town. It is about a 30-minute drive to either city.
I prefer to avoid large crowds at all cost and the same goes for the city. I don’t like traffic and I certainly don’t like all the strangers walking around on the streets.
Flensburg, the City I am in today, is a Harbor City and was one of the only German cities that was preserved through WWII. It was also the last headquarters of the German army after Hitler died. The historical aspect of the city is very interesting and there are some really neat old buildings.
Flensburg has received its fair share of refugees, as any German city, and it has already taken its toll. When I first started visiting Germany it was right before the mass immigration and this was certainly a different place. It was clean, there were lots of young people out and about , and just an overall European feel to it.
It seems that the influx of refugees has come at the same time the German government has decided to go full throttle globalism and greed by destroying forests and farmland to build cookie cutter subdivisions in order for wealthy inhabitants of the city to escape and also by focusing on a consumer based society. Funny huh.
Now they have begun demolishing old buildings to construct big box stores and housing for the increased population. I can’t imagine the effects of the tax burden on a smaller city like this, but I guess this is their answer.
Murder and rape are also becoming normal headlines in the news for a city of over 85,000, that before the “crisis” hadn’t seen a murder in nearly 30 years. Sadly, most of the victims are young women. The newspapers blame the locals for not allowing for easy integration, even though Arabic is in the schools, Muslim holidays are observed, and the average refugee family receives 4,000€ a month.
If you do the math roughly 40% of Germans are paying taxes and of that 40%, about 20% receive their income through taxpayer dollars. Germany has the second highest tax burden in the world source. This is not a sustainable system and no matter how valiant the cause to help refugees (who have been known to fly home on holidays and are paid for children they might not even have in their homeland) it is doomed to fail. Perhaps this is the reason Germany is so happy to bring in unskilled workers (refugees) to work meaningless jobs that may result in some sort of tax revenue, which is unlikely since poor people pay little to no taxes here.
In Europe in general, it is irresponsible to have lots of children because of the tax burden and it is supposedly irresponsible in today's world of climate change... However, Europeans happily welcome those from other lands with many many children because Europe needs more children to support the Social welfare system. 🧐 That just doesn't add up to me. Are they building a modern slave trade? I don't know what they are trying to do.
I have an invested interest in Germany, and all of Europe for that matter, and I really hope that she can overcome this new crisis as she has many times in the past. Like all parents, I fear for my children’s future and wish for them to enjoy the freedom to speak what they believe, believe what they want, and be who they want to be.
Make way for progress!

I left 5 years ago this week badger and I went back for a few days recently and couldn’t get over the amount of homeless. What once felt so safe and secure and clean is now a bit hairy. Taking these “refugees” in is like an apology for their past. An image to be seen to be taking them in . They are afraid to be nationalist which is the stance of 90% of Germans. It’s backfired on them . I’ve a Muslim friend in Frankfurt that has taken his child out of 2 school this year because radical ideas were being banded around in the classroom . Scary stuff

It's a powder keg! By outlawing their history they have made it more appealing to the youth instead of embracing the past and moving forward they have created another sleeping monster and they are providing fodder for these radical movements by blindly letting everyone in with little to no regulation.

As I'm reading this, the song Rape Me by Nirvana just happened to start playing in my headphones, apt huh? It's sad to see them destroying their own history. I wish I could say it's any better over here in the US of A, but it's not.
Our town has been invaded by people who not only refuse to assimilate and have drained our welfare system with HUGE families, but openly hate and despise America. Most of the money they do get ends up being sent out of the country allowing even more to make the trip here to feed off of the public.
Sooner or later the free lunch will end when the funds dry up. We also went from a nice safe and quiet town to one with daily shootings and killings. The only "good" thing about it is they come from a "macho" culture and are largely killing each other, allowing the peaceful natives to flee.
It seems like humanity is doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. I guess our short term memory is a gift of survival but it hinders our evolution. I think we can better help people when we are strong ourselves. But I guess nowadays strength is a negative attribute. Might as well all be victims. Thanks for your words!

Howdy sir badger! it sure is a huge problem in almost every Western culture country. I was shocked a few years ago when we learned how many immigrants Germany was allowing in...the kind who refuse to assimilate! It would be different if they wanted to become true Germans. It's a giant problem for so many countries and it's a little late now to send them back.
Oh, what's that great old building there, that looks like it should be restored.
Thanks, @janton! I think what really needs to be done is tax reform, higher immigration regulation, and certainly cut back on benefits. I think if your home is safe enough to fly to on the holidays the government really needs to reconsider your refugee status. Hopefully, it will work itself out.

howdy again sir badger! oh yeah, I forgot about that outrageous free money they get every month...for what? That's not right. But we're doing similar insane things here with all the benefits and free healthcare. Flying home though, that's infuriating when hard working citizens sure can't afford to fly anywhere because of all the dang taxes. I'm ready to revolt! lol.
I know there are legitimate people in need, but why do they have to travel 5000 miles to a foreign land when there are wealthy countries near to them that have the same religion, language, culture etc. I'm talking about turkey, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Kuwait. And another big issue is they come to a country register as a refugee in say Italy then cross over to Germany and double dip (open borders in EU). It's a fire button topic and you can see each German election more conservatives are elected.

sir badger! oh well there should be a ground swell of sentiment against this hideous situation, I'm so glad to hear that. What do you do with them though when they refuse to assimilate?
