After recently being introduced to Steemit and reading through some of the great, thought provoking content, I decided that it was time to write something myself in the hope to contribute to what could be the new face of social media (here's hoping).
I am aware that this has become the new platform for a lot of anarchists from around the world, and in my mind that can only be a good thing. But the question still remains, 'will it ever be possible to convince enough people that the world we live in, and the current system we are all governed by needs to change?
Although I will always remain optimistic that things can change for the better, I am finding it increasingly hard to believe they ever will.
Why do I say this??????
Well, I don't know if it's just me but it seems that more and more people are becoming dumbed down by the worlds media, and although this isn't something new or some great insight that I have just enlightened you all with, it is worrying that the people being dumbed down seem to know it and don't even care!
When you try to have an intelligent conversation with someone about the state of the economy or the perpetual war machine and what impact it could have on the world, or how our rights and freedoms are slowly being eroded away by our corrupt governments, and your hit with a vacant stare, followed by did you watch Big Brother last night or who do you think is going to win Pop Idol, then it feels that all hope is lost, and that the chances of people waking up and realising that we are all slowly being enslaved is minimal.
So what is the answer?
At the moment we seem to be loosing this war of information. Our corrupt governments are slowly eroding our freedoms piece by piece, but only enough for the average zombie to stay brainwashed and dormant.
Countries all over he world are gearing up for police states right under our very noses, and yet the majority of people do not seem to care. As long as they can still go about their daily lives then why bother to even think about it?
And the more we start to see these kind of uniforms on our streets the more we accept it as 'normal'. After all they are here to keep us safe aren't they????
I do fear that the time for being able to organise a united uprising against a corrupt government is rapidly passing.
long gone are the days where men such as George Washington, Samuel Adams, John Adams, John Hancock and Benjamin Franklin can all sit in a room and discuss the idea of overthrowing a tyrannical oppressor and actually achieving it.
Is all hope lost? I don't think so. But I don't know the answer either.
All I do know is that Steemit is a step in the right direction.
While it appears that we are losing the battle at the moment, i believe ultimately, we will win the war in the end. Governments eventually are going to run out of money, forcing them to dramatically shrink the state. While there will be a period of time with hardship for the people, advancement of technology will fill the gap left from the shattered government. This transition will be largely organic and the majority of people will not even realize what is happening, just as they did not notice how we got into this position in the first place
