at least we don't have atilla the hun, genghis khan, or stalin, and at least ostensibly, we don't live under a monarchy.
I can generally agree, we have evolved a bit. Though it the grand scheme.. The reality seems more like technology evolved enough to not need so many ground troops anymore cause our leaders are still doing some pretty barbaric things, now they just do it from the sky and it seems like "progress" cause less people die. Which.. in a sense it is.. I agree. But.. In a sense it's not. Especially to those innocent people who are getting bombed and killed. To them, I don't think it matters much whether it's Ghengis Khan or Obama, or Bush, Or Clinton, or whoever..
"we have a hard time getting accurate news as to what happened yesterday 6PM in our own neighborhood. "
I do very much agree with this, and I'm a very skeptical person so when I speak in a historical sense it's usually like what is accepted history. I do understand the difference and realize I wasn't back there and don't know it all, but.. I tend to operate under a historical model when talking about such things. Though I do get your point.
most of the natives died from disease
I'm not sure I can agree with this. I don't think anyone really knows, just like you mentioned above. But.. Even if it was mostly disease it was still caused by us. And it wasn't totally inadvertently that they nearly got entirely wiped out. Some of our founders are quoted as wanting to pretty much extinct them.. And they almost did.
Our founders weren't the greatest of people either.. There's quotes from many of them speaking of the natives as savages that need to pretty much be exterminated like animals. And many of them owned slaves themselves while promoting freedom which is kind of hypocritical in my opinion.
I suggest looking into the "American Holocaust" If you're not familiar with it.. It's not really known how bad it was, some experts thing as I mentioned before between 10 million to over 100 million.. That's quite a gap of mystery.. We really don't know just how bad it was, but we know enough to know they slaughtered tons of innocents and wanted to pretty much wipe them out and ultimately almost did.
I think it's pretty clear what we did to them was prolly worse than what our tyrants did to us. But either way. History is a bit foggy eh? It's hard to know for sure. Though many of our founders were some pretty ruthless people as well.
i don't think we've had a leader in a long time. other than being straight up bought, i think all we have these days are politicians, not leaders.
Agreed. There might be some leaders behind the scenes in the secret societies, but I think presidents and politicians are mostly puppets.. And those leaders behind the scenes don't represent me either, no matter how much they think they do.
"and at least ostensibly, we don't live under a monarchy."
True. The illusion of freedom, is better than the opposite. And we do have some real tangible freedoms, I admit that. In other places I'd get like shot for saying some of this kinda stuff.. I acknowledge that but doesn't mean we shouldn't keep striving to do even better. :)
i have enough native to get college funds. my uncles have so much they don't grow facial hair. i've looked into how they lived and whoever wants it can keep it. there were atrocities committed on both sides. here's something, not saying the guy is 100% correct but, his citations check out, so far.
