Demanding perfection is the enemy of progress. It's important to judge a person's behavior based on the time era in which they lived.
The USA's founding fathers had many issues that are clear to us today. But considering the era of their lives, they were blinding beacons of light and justice. I would argue that their actions in setting up the most free country the world has ever known, play a huge factor in us even being able to see that they had any errors in the first place.
We should honor and respect the builders who have helped to move the world in a better direction. That doesn't mean we ignore their faults, we should point them out and strive to do even better.
