Is it wrong to be contrarian? I mean there are lots of people out there that are contrarian by nature. People that go against the grain and very successful in their endeavors as well. Dr Marc Faber from the Gloom Boom &Doom Report, to me is a very good example of what contrarian investing is all about.
He is one example of a positive contrarian, there are many more in all walks of life. The thing is in today's world, if you offer up a different point of view you are probably not going to be viewed in any positive light but more than likely you will be regarded as a looney wack job.
I will be the first to admit that I don't buy into the news as it presented via the mainstream outlets. I always question things before I come to a conclusion on anything. When I get the deer in the headlights stare with my contradictory view point, the debate usually ends up with me being the crazy one if I don't believe this or that. All I ask is for in a debate is to prove me wrong. I have absolutely no trouble accepting the truth and saying I was wrong when proven wrong.
Now I know that there are a lot of subjects that are off-limits when talking to certain people and I am respectful of that, but man o man can some people come completely unglued when you challenge them on so called news being spewed from the mainstream media. I look at world events and I do my homework to verify that what I am seeing or hearing is actually the truth.
Words like 'allegedly' and 'capability of' and 'they possess the...' is usually when I go into detective mode. Most people don't seem to take those words seriously when they come to their conclusions and just accept the diatribe they are spoon fed as a given, Yup, they says its so, its gotta be true.
I don't like to view some people that are like that as ignorant because I still think they have the capacity to rationalize, but what I am seeing in today's society is down right dangerous when a simple 3 letter word is never spoken any more. That word is 'why'. Nobody questions anything any more. I am treated like an out cast when things don't make sense to me, why is that?
The most troubling part is that society as a whole is being steered down a path that has no light at the end of the tunnel. Dangerous times are ahead and the majority don't even realize it. I see the writing being scribbled on the wall and even though I am not a 'religious' man although I do have my spirituality some of the things I see are truly prophetic.
Or is it just me and everything is cool.
