I don't know about the laws in Japan, but here in California, if you have enrolled your child into public schools and you send a revocation of power of signature to the school board, they will not let your child in school until they are enrolled again. My father did this for my younger sister when she was 11. He told her she could still go to school if she wanted to and she did. About a week or two later, my parents were called to pick her up at school at 10 in the morning. From then on she was home schooled and as an adult went to college for a couple years for an AA degree. My father's position was if she is required to be there, he does not need to sign any paperwork. So I hope this will relieve some of your fears and get you on your way to teaching your children to discover how we sometimes obligate ourselves wothout realizing it. Your signature is often involved.
