The origin of the concepts of right and left in politics refers to the year 1789, when during the French Revolution, the Girondists liberals sat to the right and the Jacobin extremists sat to the left in the hall of the National Assembly. Both sides wanted an end to privileges for the nobility, but the Girondists (right) wanted a liberal revolution while the Jacobins (left) wanted a new centralizing power.
After the period of the French Revolution, this form of distinction of sides began to become popular in politics around the world for several epochs, and with that, it also underwent several changes of meaning, reaching such a point that today it would no longer be possible to separate political ideologies in only two sides without ending up thus including opposing groups on the same side, but the use of the terms right and left is still very common, thus motivating me to have to write this article.
Ancaps are right or left?
Ancaps are different:
It has often been said, especially since the middle of the Cold War, that the right has individualist thinking and the collectivist left, which the right tends to be more conservative while the left is progressive. No matter how much difference they have had, for centuries, both currents of thought have always had something in common, which is the ever-present interest in managing some state model.
The nature of the state is illegitimate and unethical
Anarcho-capitalism is the only absolutely ethical stream of thought, and therefore, as it could not be otherwise, it denies any form of authority, as the state primarily, this differs from any concept of right and left. A very common and very serious error, to say that anarcho-capitalism is right because it is individualist or capitalist, since there are no individualist governments, because all are centralizers and collectivists, no matter what level be. Nor can it be said that the fact that we are capitalists places us on the right, for when administered by the government there is always some kind of interventionism, while anarcho-capitalism always preaches and under any circumstance the free market.
So if you come across someone passing ancap, but who supports state policy anyway, be wary! Anarcho-capitalists are totally against any imposition of authority and the state is today our greatest enemy.
Anarcho-capitalism is a system based on ethics, and it comes neither from the right nor from the left. Ethics comes from within you!
