Bearded dragons are like the goats of the reptile world to me. They have their own individual personalities and almost all of them have a goofy side. Especially when their young. This little looks like he's ready to seduce the next lovely bearded lady that walks by...
Bearded dragons get to be quite large and need a big space in your home. They should be kept in a 55gallon tank that you can section off to make them feel more comfortable when they are still growing. My advice for any pet is get what you will need for their whole lives not just what they can use for now. You will end up spending more money and have to clean the habitats more often. It is just an all around better experience to bite the bullet and get your new companion what they need.
Bearded dragons are also known for having a wide diet. They will eat crickets (which should be the bread and butter of their diet), worms of all kinds, fruits and vegetables. Always double check if a new item is safe for your beardy! Leafy greens like kale are great but do not offer any pet iceberg lettuce. You will end up with a trip to the vet for a laxative in no time! For worms it is important to remember that bigger isn't always better. Especially when it comes to a growing beardy. You should never offer a beardy anything longer then their mouth is wide. This is a chocking hazard because the worm can get stuck in their esophagus.
Fun Fact: bearded dragons are from Australia and they get their name because when they are stressed they puff out the skin on their neck as it turns to a black colour, t looks like a big black beard.
