Chickens are actually very smart! They can count, show some level of self-awareness, and even manipulate one another by Machiavellian means.

I don't think so. They are among the dumbest animals I've ever raised.
lol I have never raised chicken but this was the source of the fact : http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20170110-despite-what-you-might-think-chickens-are-not-stupid
LOL...it's OK. Perhaps barn-yard raised chickens are smart. We raised 32,000 broilers every two months, from tiny little peepers to 8-12 pound birds in just 8 weeks! Sadly, they were pumped with grain that had chemicals in them that kept them always hungry and always awake. They never slept, and just ate, and ate, and ate. I suppose that could mess with anyone's intelligence!
Wow that's rough man! Yeah you're lucky they survived lol.
But I guess that that's the industry standard for raising chicken nowadays ...
It is, and it's very sad. I always cringe when Perdue puts out their commercials bragging about how they don't use antibiotics, but they tell you NOTHING about these other serious chemicals. Some of that has got to wind up in the human population.
