Backyard wildlife

The man at the store where I get the bird seed to put in my outdoor feeder, sent along a couple of these compressed seed 'bells' the last time my daughter stopped in to get a bag of seed for me.

image

I hung one just outside the window on the metal rod where I hang my hummingbird feeder in the summer and it has been quite entertaining to have the birds come so close to the house.

But guess who else discovered it?

He is quite the acrobat!

And he doesn't even seem to mind that I am just inches away on the other side of the glass!

No matter where you put out birds seed, the squirrels will always find it! So nice that it brought birds close enough for some good pics!

They are so naughty! I can hardly believe it, but he hasn't been back. Having the birds so close has been great, every one who visits loves watching them.

Haha ... those squirrels get into everything:)Lovely shots:)

Thanks! I have had that rod up there for almost 20 years, and despite repeated efforts by many generations of squirrels this is the first one to have success! Got to give him a gold star!⭐

Love squirrels. I really do. Where I live in Vancouver, they are very much part of the community. But let me tell you ... they have a genius for evil ... tee hee:)

Pretty curious and great way to attract animals and feed them.

I like living in the woods and watching nature!

Haha! You have yourself a little friend!

Yes...a destructive one, but he is clever!

Oh my goodness! You totally made my day! Thank you SO much. I couldn't be more thrilled!

Keep up the good work!

I worry a bit each week that I will make enough to be able to continue the Shadow Contest payouts, but with this I can breathe a sigh of relief for next week!
😃 Thanks again!

Way to go !!!!

That squirrel is soo cute. That solves the mystery of the missing bird seed hahha. Quite an acrobat indeed like a burglar in the night.

Isn't he funny? So far it was just a one time attack. Maybe he decided it wasn't tasty enough to be worth the effort!

Congratulations on the spotlight. Winner!

Thank you! I am quite thrilled!

Great post and congratulations for being chosen by @daveks for In the Spotlight! I love how you captured the antics of the naughty squirrels!

Thanks so much! Not exactly fine photography when it's through the window, but you've got to take them when you can, right? 😉

Not so sneaky squirrel :D It doesn't mind being photographed as long as he has all the nuts to himself.

They do have a never ending appetite!

I hope they don't finish all the nuts. Poor birds if they don't have any left to feed on.

Oh he'll work it until there is nothing left for the birds!!! Sneaky little rodents they are. Cute though aren't they!! hehe....nice post Mel.

I have a good set up with my main feeder and they are unable to get into it. They will give me plenty of trouble with potted plants and my hummingbird feeders next month, though!

lol....they are cute to watch and even photograph but they are bird feeder ruiners!!! I had one black one stuck up in the "y" of the downspout and he was squawking like a 911 call!! I tried to get a photo of him but the sound of the beep from my camera upset him even more. He jumped and flew down - I thot he was going to get my head....instead he landed on the top of the fence behind me. I would have made for a fun video....lol

I'll be expecting some nice bird photos from you them :)

I love squirrels but unfortunately can't see many in the city. Yours is quite cute! I have to reblog this and congratulations for the 💯% upvote from @ daveks! Well done my dear friend!

Thanks for sharing this! I am so excited about @daveks Spotlight!

Great 👍 photography

Thanks, my friend! Thinking of you....how about reflections? You could change it each week...to in water, in shop windows, in mirrors, in car windows...lots of possibilities!

Those squirrels can get to just about anything... Congratulations on the spotlight! :)

The spotlight was completely unexpected and I am thrilled! That squirrel hasn't attempted the leap up there again....I keep waiting, because now that he knows there is a food source there, I would expect a more concentrated effort from the little devil!

Great Photography!

Super nice photos! I especially like the inverted squirrel! Congrats on the daily spotlight!

Thanks so much! The inverted pose was not intentional...rather, it was a save, to keep from falling!

And you captured the moment for the rest of us to see!

Haha, didn't expect this little critter to show up 😃 Nicely captured.

Thanks! He surprised me, too!

Oh wow...who need a television when there is such a show behind the glass ? ! ^_^

They are entertaining!

I love that cheeky squirrel!
They're such opportunists aren't they?

They can be very naughty, but really fun watch!

That's either a small feeder or a really big squirrel! Very nice shots of him, though. I think he's even smiling in that close-up!
