It's heartbreaking...it's important to educate people to adopt and not shop. As you say, many animals are in shelters waiting for a loving home but may never get this chance due to breeders and greed.
Contact the city administration and start a campaign to ban the sale of animals as we are doing in Montreal. Start a local movement and petition to get things moving. It won't happen overnight but the change will come.
