. This little fellow is one of 9 tadpoles that we received from a Neighbour who found them swimming in her pool , he and his brother and sisters are about 2 months old now .
We did not know that they were treefrogs when we got them so the whole project was a mystery .
My children are 5 and 9 year old girls who were able and willing to help and participate at every stage of the game.
we released a few at the lake and watched them swim in a shallow pool while they still had tails but the rest we waited till the tails were shorter like the one above and released them in our garden .

They first grow their back legs
and eventually their front ones , but they need to be able to climb on something to get out of the water at this time or they will drown . This one climbed up the inside of the bowl and out over the rim.. that’s how we discovered they were tree frogs and not water frogs..
The other interesting thing is to watch as their main body changes shape, and color. They go from a dark camo green gray to a bright green. At this point they are ready to venture out.
