Animal Photography-Wild Deer Faun

Deer Faun.jpg

Much like the little Turkey Chick in my previous post, this is a little wild deer faun that I met in a field.
I have been very fortunate in my life to have experiences of meeting wild animals when alone in the Nature.
In this instance I was in a field on a bright early morning in tall grass. I came upon this little faun half asleep.
It was interesting because my girl Lily (dog) was with me, and she had an incredible sense of smell. Thus I was quite surprised that she did not find the faun. In fact she trotted right past it within 20 feet or so but never noticed it.
Again it is a great blessing to meet young/newborn animals because they have not learned to fear humans yet.
As with the turkey chick I took a quick photo and moved away so that Lily was not alerted, and so that momma could come back to reclaim her little one!
Be alone in the Nature with a quiet mind, and with the wind in your face to push your scent behind you, and perhaps you will experience this benediction...this is my wish for you

Ooh yes what a magical moment... i will take this wish! Who knows what may happen. I love the barn owl and the egrit and the huge frog who i have encountered on the land near to my house.... i wonder who else i might meet!

You are probably already aware of this, but the animals are very active the times before and during dawn and dusk...and I have found especially in the early morning.
So up before dawn and moving as quietly as possible is a good approach.
Peace

Ah yes. I do remember walking very early one morning. It had been snowing and there were various footprints on the tiny bridge crossing the stream, including deer and herron. I walked barefoot accross the bridge to add to the tracks. That made a really magical photo! It was a reminder to me that we all share this planet, and going for a walk 'alone', I was not alone.
Thanks for the tip, I will definately try out some dawn walking / photography.

A happy moment. S/he looks so snug and cozy warmed by the sun on soft grass. Great photograph.

Yes this little one was totally unconcerned with me...for some reason I always weep after an encounter like this.
I love the Earth.
Peace

Thoughts of what might have happened, or ~~~ perhaps just being moved by nature. It is very moving, all by itself :-)

Yeah I guess just moved by the miracle and humbled.
I wrote in an earlier post that years ago I was talking to the tracker John Stokes (The Tracking Project) and he said that on some level when you see an animal it is because you are being "allowed" to see it...so to me it feels like a gift.
Also I must admit there is sorrow at the current relationship of the humans to the Nature

Awesome pic! Following you now!

Thank you, I was lucky to have my camera with me, there have been magical encounters when I did not.
Be Well
