Humpbacks are insanely amazing! By far, one of my favourite animals of all time to watch and interact with around the world. Whether, I am in Australia, Canada or down the crystal desert of Antarctica I am also blown away by the graceful & powerful nature.
Unfortunately, it is something you never know is going to happen until it actually happens then having your camera ready for that breach is a completely other story & you got to be simply lucky too. Here is what it looks like when the stars aline and you are lucky enough to capture that rare and memorable moment.

Wow, lovely shot! The stars did indeed align and favour you! I've tried taking photos before on a few whale watching adventures in Hervey Bay... my best photo was a mere ripple. ;)
Thanks! I grew up just north of Hervey Bay in a town called Tannum Sands. it does take practise and simply luck some days. keep trying!
Wauw! What is the best time to check them out and where?
It depends where you are in the world. For more active and social animals, typically in their breeding grounds during the winter time. So in December, around Hawaii is a good spot. they will feed towards the poles in the summer period and breed in the tropics during the winter period
