RE: Amazing Animals #20 The African Lion

in #animals7 years ago

All Lion species today can effectively be considered "African Lions", Asiatic Lions share morphological and genetic similarities to North, Central and West African Lions and are thought to have migrated from African Lion populations roughly 100,000 years ago.

Surprisingly Lions are capable of picking off Elephants even if the Elephant is part of a herd, large prides use teamwork and tenacity to gradually wear down and separate the Elephant from the herd, Elephants are still prey animals and they are prone to panicking when placed in to a dangerous situation, they are however less likely to disperse if a young calf is present.

They're worth seeing, I hear our male putting on a vocal performance every morning, the sound can carry for over three miles and it goes right through you.
