Why can insects, reptiles and birds be green, but animals with fur or a coat not?

The question was asked by one off the little ones so I dove into the biology books and searched on the net. ......

The color of the fur of animals is determined by color pigment melanin. There are different kinds off melanin. It can make hair yellow, brown, reddish or black, but not green.

The green color of reptiles, fish and birds is caused by a different type of pigment. In fact, that is a yellow dye, but by the way the blue light in the daylight falls on the scales or feathers and shows the color.
Therefore it appears to be green, or in rare cases blue. Green insects usually get their color through the dyes in the food they eat.
