More Pet Portrait Paintings finished this week!

There's Gary the female cat that lived 19 years and a sweet golden retriever painted as a memorial for an in-law's birthday.

For Gary, my client had a high contrast reference with lighting I'd knew would be fun to paint, and it was everything I had hoped. It was such a fun challenge. I even included the frames on the wall because it was a neat detail I couldn't leave out.

I also finished up this sweet girl. My first roommate got a golden retriever puppy when I first moved in and I loved that dog, so this breed will always have a special place in my heart. My client picked this cheery blue for the background which played so well off the warm tones in the fur. Both of these portraits have a good amount of gold and copper.

I love, love, love painting these pet portraits. If you'd like one done, I'd be more than happy to paint one for you. I've been tweaking the way I've been doing commissions for several years now, and you can find all the information you need here: http://christiesnelson.com/commissions/

As always, thanks for looking!

Gary is awesome! That face has attitude.

Thanks, Mom! The reference picture actually had more 'tude and I toned it down just a tad. I still haven't decided if I regret that decision, but I had a really happy client anyway :)

Wow I love the cat, incredible work! Both are very realistic :)

Thanks, Lauren! I'm going for an realistic impressionistic look :) I love tight details of bright colors.

Very impressive! :)

Wow great work! I always love seeing your work. Keep it up!!!

Thanks, Justin! Will do! I already started a new one tonight!
