In 2023, fur production worldwide dropped by 40% compared to the previous year, leading to an 85% reduction over the past ten years. This sharp decline means that millions of animals, such as minks, foxes, and raccoon dogs, have been spared from the cruelty of intensive fur farming.
High-end brands like Gucci, Armani, and Michael Kors have made the decision to eliminate fur from their collections, aligning with the Fur Free Alliance. Over 1,600 companies have now committed to not using fur, signaling a growing shift towards ethical practices in fashion. Over the last decade, campaigns have highlighted the inhumanity of the fur industry, pushing consumers to choose more humane alternatives. Yet, some brands like Fendi, Louis Vuitton, and Woolrich continue to use fur.
Fashion, like food, is shaped by cultural norms, and real change will only come through widespread education. As the market responds to consumer demand, the efforts of organizations and media outlets are key to driving ongoing progress.
Global regulations and the decline in demand have forced many breeders to shut down their operations. In the European Union, the number of fur farms dropped from 4,350 in 2018 to 1,088 in 2023. In China, the leading global producer, production has fallen by more than half since 2022. Despite this industry decline, approximately 20 million animals are still raised each year for their fur, highlighting the need for further action.

This is very sad.... when we will have less human beeings? Would be better...😏
No reason to buy real fur, people should just buy fake fur if they have to
Love to hear this and hope to see a 100% decrease one day. Absolutely hate how they torture these wonderful creatures.
Yep, that's the most lame industry based on animals, expecially when there are synthetic furs available
