Today, I learned about one of the creepiest monsters of the 7 seas... the GOBLIN SHARK.
Here are the most interesting facts about the goblin shark:
- It is pink, unlike other sharks.
- It's been found in ocean waters all around the world, except for the freezing-ass cold Arctic and Antarctic waters. But it especially seems to love Japanese waters.
- It lurks in such deep & dark waters that it probably doesn't even use its beady, little eyes very much.
- It has a very long snout that can sense the electricity of squid, fish, and other prey (since it can't really see them).
- It has ligaments in its head that thrust its jaw out very fast, like a slingshot. The jaws actually shoot out of it's mouth! It's gross.
- Its teeth are thin and long, like needles.
It's called "goblin shark" because Japanese fishermen originally called it tengu-zame. Zame means shark. Tengu is a half-bird, half-man, red-faced demon with a long nose.
Tengu:

This is good advice I should know I grew up in South Africa where there are a lot of sharks but no goblin sharks.
Cool, did you surf there?
Hey didnt surf when I was growing up . I was part of the smelly skate gang, it was weird growing up then if you skated you hated surfers so I grew up by the ocean and never surfed WHAT A PUNK !!!
