The famous Killifish are one of the most interesting groups in nature, mostly living in temporary ponds that dies throughout the population in the drought period. One of them is the annual brevis fish called by science as Rachovia brevis. It is located north of South America in Colombia and Venezuela.
They enter their breeding period a few weeks after hatching and feed and mate daily, until the drying of their habitat. They are extremely territorial, males fight to the death until they eat their opponents, leaving more females for their offspring.
The aquarists have an interest in particular for these species, their beautiful colors, easy reproduction and feeding make it one of the most noble annual fish that exist, in addition to all more than 50% of the species of rachovias are in danger of extinction which gives greater value to cultivate it to keep the natural populations alive.
