yeah. It's not like I wanted any animals growing up. I was fine with the no pet rule. At the same time, I don't begrudge it either. I wasn't at home anymore, so it wasn't going to be in my way or bother me in the slightest. And really, I do prefer cats over dogs. They're independence can mean they also can take better care of themselves.
We've lived in rural areas most of my life, which means fields, which means, as you will know, that among other things, there can be mice. So, cats go out and mice, although, they will also bird and otherwise critter whatever they can get their paws on, and then present them to you at your feet like the highly sought for treasure that they are. :)
I really think you know what you've gotten yourself into, and now, you know that Playa could really use a shelter for cats. Now, if there was some money in it, things would be perfectly aligned. You'd just need a catchy name, like, El Gato Gringo or something. Hmmmm. That seems to be all I got. :)
Oh I fully understand how cats 'return' with their gifts; even dogs do it too. Our landlord's dog brought a baby bat for all of us to marvel over the other night ;)
Maybe El Gatito Gringo ... sounds a bit cuter? :)
Oh, sure, you got to 'cute' it up. :)
I think really the way to go here is to cater to the ex-pat community, because in reality, you're not going to make too many in roads with the Mexican folks. Otherwise, there would be shelters, anyway. I wonder if there would be a way to bring in the tourists, too, though I'd have to think on that a little...
Wait. Did I just give you another business idea? I'm actually not trying to persuade or assist in this. It's just coming out. Maybe I should stop. Yes, I think I will do that. :)
I've decided that this one kitten is work enough! The shelter is on hold :)
They do have 'programs' here where dogs are adopted by tourists and local gringos, and several dog shelters, but just nothing for cats.
