Kilimanjaro Safaris

One of the best parts of Disney's Animal Kingdom is the Kilimanjaro Safari ride that takes you through the 'Harambe Wildlife Reserve'. This large stretch of natural terrain was created to simulate the savanna's of East Africa. There are dozens of animals along the way, some of which are considered endangered species. It's a great way to feel like you are on an African safari without actually traveling to Africa.

During my trip to Animal Kingdom I was lucky enough to ride the Kilimanjaro Safari twice. One of the best features of the ride is that if you go on it multiple times it will never be the same twice. Each time you go on the safari you will witness different animals in different places, doing different things.

Here are my pictures from the Safari!

Ankole-Watusi

Look at the horns on that fellow!

Hippopotamus

Swimming with the Vultures.

Flamingos

A flamboyance of flamingos

Baobob Tree

Also known as an upside-down tree. You can see an elephant herd in the distance to the left of the tree.

Lion

The male lion seems to be eating something on his perch.

More Giraffes

Eating a bush... I like the face on the one to the right.

Wildabeest

These are one of the coolest animals on the African savanna. Their annual migration is one of the craziest things on Earth.

Another Elephant

This road was closed and for a good reason! A large male elephant was hanging out in the path.

I love the Kilimanjaro Safari ride and I hope someday to travel to East Africa and visit the Serengeti. It's a miraculous place full of diverse wild-life and extreme behavior. Animal Kingdom does a great job at educating visitors about the dangers of poaching and they help people learn ways to join in on the fight to conserve wildlife around the world.

wow!!
its a lovely place to visit. but funny enough the Kilimanjaro here in my town is a supermarket!!! hahaha.
Nice POST thumb up

Fantastic shots and brought back great memories from doing this ride a couple of times

And I have to say from experience it does have a lot of similarities to doing a real Safari in Africa having done one so I am very impressed with how they have set it up

and its better in some ways while In africa I did get to do a real safari, which was very cool to experience but on that visit I also picked up Malaria, which is not a risk on the Disny one :)

Haha that's for sure! I can imagine it is a very intense experience compared to the Disney ride

This place is fantastic! How big is this Walt Disney world, is a day enough to enjoy this park ? Seems so big !

Walt Disney World has 4 main parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios.... All are enormous and you definitely need a full day to enjoy each. As for Animal Kingdom itself, it's the largest theme park in the world at 580 acres

Man, I must go there sometime ! What an experience ! Must have so many good experiences there !

At first I was going to make one post about each park but when I started writing one it dragged on for ages. So I decided I'd break it down a bit ... I still have so much more to share! You should definitely plan to go at some point, its certainly a magical place (if you can handle the long lines!).

Well i haven't even been to
America yet, but when I go there I would love to stop by this place !
