Staring at a Grizzly Bear

in #animals7 years ago (edited)

When you get locked into a starting competition with the grizzly.

I took these pictures in Yellowstone National Park in 2015 during a trip with my dad. We were both very interested in seeing some bears (they have both grizzly and black bears) and would drive around looking for them. Bears in the park are not nearly as common to spot compared to animals such as bison, mountain goats and elk.

Sure enough we stumbled upon a grizzly bear sighting and pulled over. There were a decent amount of people there and a park ranger that was monitoring the situation. At one point the grizzly actually began walking towards the crowd and almost caused the ranger to clear the road.

It looks like the grizzly is looking directly at me in the first two pictures.

He decided it's not worth it.

Luckily we had a car nearby, that would be quite the predicament!

Great photos! I went to Yellowstone for the first time earlier this year but didn't see any bears.

Thank you greenie! Yeah it's a great place but bears can be hard to spot. We only saw two bears over the course of four full days and some of that was definitely luck. Still amazing though even without bear sightings!

Perfect :) Love it!. @maackel
