Most rodents are kind of like that, but the snout doesn't quite look like a "Rat",,, Could be a hybrid of some sort, but looks kind of "Chinchilla-ish". Only time I ever saw a rat that size was in SE Asia in 1969... I thought it was a large squirrel then, Then I found the locals BBQ'd them...
possibly a "muskrat?
