Last weekend i was at work...
I made my break and saw a death fly hanging at the mirror of a wardrobe.
I was wondering why white pulver was arround the death fly.
In the same moment i thought about it, i remembered that we spoke about fungi and their spores in my biology class.
So i informed me about this theme again and i found out that the white pulver are spores from a fungus.
Picture taken from Wikipedia
This fungus is called Entomophthora muscae.
Soon after a fly dies from infection with this pathogenic fungus a small area near the fly get full of spores like in the first picture, taken by myself.
These types of fungus are really interesting, in my opinion, so i thought i could share this experience with you.
Interesting. I would not have thought that the fly would become infected with the fungus during its lifetime. Really some sort of biological control agent. O.o
The top photo could be almost a kind of weird mini-art installation. xD
Oh yea it could be. I see what you mean. xD
