Lamb Watch

in #animals7 years ago (edited)

I have 5 sheep that should be bred. A couple of them look HUGE and have for quite some time. Every day we walk the pasture to check for babies. Generally when a mama sheep has a baby she takes care of it and all is well. I like to let nature take it's course and let the mamas care for their own babies. However, sometimes the moms don't care for their babies for whatever reason. This is far more common for first time mamas, which all my pregnant ewes are. Here are some pictures of our sheep today (a few goats snuck in). Pictures do not make them look as big as they look in person. Any guesses on when we will be seeing lambs?DSC01544.JPG

Nice looking sheep there!

Thanks! I'm hoping they are "fruitful and multiple" soon. I get so impatient waiting for them to birth!

Look at the well manicured hooves!🤗

WE just got some sheep today!

I was wrong! I guessed goats!!! You are going to love having sheep, particularly when they lamb. Those babies are SO adorable. Your children will be so excited! I'm sure you have an entire network of people, but if you have any question feel free to ask! :)

They are looking fat and happy. It looks like you all have some green stuff available for them to eat. We will be putting out hay next week!

Yes, we still have some green in our pasture. We put out two small round bales while we were away and they haven't even gone through half of one! But the option is there for them if they run out of grass. :)
