My 1st Animation

in #animation7 years ago

Yeah! I noticed that my Creative Cloud suite had software for animation! I am in the process of learning about all forms of animation and just for fun I decided to give myself a "Quick Challenge".

Goal: Learn the software(s) within a week and over the weekend create an animation.

Steps:

  • Created a puppet in Illustrator with various mouth options for lip syncing.
  • Recorded some audio in Adobe Audition (new software)
  • Created animation in Adobe Character Animator (new software)
  • Edit and ‘baked’ everything in Adobe Premier (somewhat new software).
It was easier and harder than I thought for just a small duration of animation. However, it was a rewarding challenge and I learned a few thing in the processes. So without further ado...

I present my 1st cartoon animation!

Please excuse the big audio hum in the beginning. I'm new to Audition(audio) and didn't catch them hum in editing mode before I did final output.

Lessons learned:

  • Check and Check and Check again before baking the audio.
  • The Illusion of movement can be created by moving the background around as well as the character physical movement. Using both techniques solo or in together gives you more options to work with.
  • Have very large backdrops is better than have on that just fits the frame.
  • Pandas are super cute but Real pandas all the same marking. Akiba is asymmetrical but since he is a cartoon, he has leeway to be different form reality.
  • Adobe Character Animator uses a unique type of animation that involves various ways of animating which is different from traditional Keyframing and inbtweening.

To anyone who has learned the Art of Animation..

Your masterful tutelage is appreciated, Sensei.

If you have and tips or recommendations I would be honored to hear them! Anything at all: Comments, recommendations on books, videos, software?

Also to anyone who is a new to animation like me but is interested in sharing his or her work or ‘lessons learned’ then I am interesting in see it!

Thanks for your support!
