Sit back. Turn down the lights. Relax. This film is 22 minutes long but will be over before you know it and you'll wish it would go on for longer.
Harvie Krumpet did win an Oscar (hurray!) in 2003. It tells "the odd biography of a man who has Tourette's Syndrome, chronic bad luck, menial jobs, nudist tendencies, and a book of "fakts" hung around his neck" (IMDB)
Adam Elliot is a great and sensitive film maker with a soft spot for the human condition, especially when it is slightly damaged. His films are full of sharp wit, nostalgia and keen observation, but they don't get overly sentimental. And they are funny as hell.
I was fortunate enough to briefly meet and chat with Adam Elliot at the animation festival in Annecy in 2009, where he presented his animated feature Mary and Max. If you like this short, make sure to pick up a copy. And a box of Kleenex.
Love it!
