Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the steemit community, today I come to talk about an anime that surprised me a lot. Although it seems a bit childish with that minimalist animation so beautiful and featuring 2 children, but tells us a really adult story despite the plot that serves as a synopsis.
Made in Abyss is a sleeve drawn and written by the artist Akihito Tsukusi whose animation was in charge of the producer Kinema Citrus (which was totally unknown). The series has 12 chapters of 20 minutes and a final final episode of 40. If you had to choose genres for this anime it would simply be adventure and fantasy.
ARGUMENT
The story unfolds in a very peculiar fantasy world, but not on the whole planet but on a very specific island where there is a huge hole several kilometers in diameter called The Abyss. Within this immense place they found many remains of previous civilizations and treasures of immense value, reason why it developed a gigantic city called Orth that practically lives of these artifacts. The brave adventurers who immerse themselves in this beautiful and wild place are called Cave Raiders that are divided into several categories according to their experience. The protagonist of this story is a 12-year-old girl named Riko, who while exploring the first layer looking for treasures found Reg, a humanoid cyborg that will accompany him in his adventure, from the little dream of sinking into the depths of the abyss to search to his mother, a Cave Raider of the highest level that descended 10 years ago. Despite the seemingly childlike and minimalistic animation of the anime, it is by no means a smooth series, as it contains very strong and hard scenes, accompanied by a rather adult and cruel story that teaches both the darker side of nature and that of the humanity. The plot progresses in a PERFECT way explaining step by step how the world without boring, each layer of the abyss, its fauna and its behavior ... catching the viewer from minute one, making you want to know more and more of that place, but for disgrace too fast since the characters descend too much in a short time and do not give the viewer time to enjoy everything that each layer can offer, if they had stopped a little more and made a first season of 26 chapters, surely would have remained still rounder
ANIMATION
The truth is that it is an anime that enters the eyes due to its beautiful minimalist style. It departs from the format we have seen these years with predefined faces and the current animation in general, offering a beautiful anime, whose landscapes and backgrounds look like drawings by hand, the characters are not as detailed as in other series, but show a lot of personality with this style drawing. Nor do we talk about a particularly frenetic anime, as it focuses more on narrating the adventure of our protagonists than in the fight for the show, but nevertheless leaves some impressive scenes in its path, with an incredible level of detail, wonderful special effects and a quality in terms of magnificent particles, so it comes to surprise pleasantly although it seems to be something simple. I'll leave you a simple scene so you can appreciate what I mean.
PERSONAL OPINION.
The truth is that I will be really clear in what I think about this anime ... I have fallen in love from beginning to end, being for me, the hidden surprise of this year and probably the best anime of 2017. Anque, due to that animation minimalist and the protagonists thought that it would be a shonen of infantile character with an interesting world to explore ... but the reality was different, leaving a really adult and intriguing anime, with scenes and histories strong to digest in some cases, arriving to excite me in some scenes, leaving me a knot in the throat in certain points of the anime. The animation gives the sensation that will not surprise by its apparent simplicity, but as I said before leaves punctual scenes of enormous quality apart from natural and realistic movements that make it especially plausible in spite of the fantasy that surrounds the anime. The soundtrack could be said to be its weakest point since its melodies did not manage to attract me by themselves, but they accompany PERFECT form to the anime and fulfill their function to the thousand marvels. So seeing this anime, which I thought I would just like to get totally enamored, causing me to eat all his episodes in one fell swoop as you say and I will see you again in a marathon when you have time. To conclude with my opinion, I believe that this anime has created a PERFECT basis, a first season that explains the world in an ideal way, presents its characters incredibly well and that gives possibility for a second season cutting at the key moment to do it, but how I said at the beginning I would have liked to advance the plot more slowly, allowing me to contemplate a little more those beautiful landscapes that the anime shows.
DO I RECOMMEND THIS ANIME?
The truth is that it is probably the first time I do this ... but I recommend EVERYONE to give you a chance. If you are looking for an action anime where there are only combats and epic scenes just do not stop calling you ... but for anyone who loves anime with personality and unique, show a cohesive, meaningful and perfectly explained world, how their laws, tell a really adult story and leave scenes really hard to see even if it does not appear at all ... it is made for you. It is an anime that does not hook for its animation like others, it manages to keep you glued to the screen because you want to know more and more of the Abyss, you want to see what the next layer is like, what creatures you will find, what wonderful new landscapes will show you and how the odyssey advances of those 2 children in a world that will not forgive them a single mistake.
