Anime Basics: How anime series are layed out

in #anime8 years ago

So for a while I was a casual anime, I will ask for a recommendation, download a few episodes and get into (or not) into the series. Once thinking about it, I started watching for curators for anime on youtube. I found a few, including Glass Reflection, Chibi Reviews and Forneverworld.

From then I started to learn how many other series besides the most popular are taking place and where to watch them. Of course this was a while ago, before Crunchyroll, although AnimeList was around. So for people that really want to know whats up with the current anime, check out the MyAnimeList and AniCharts about seasons.

Seasons? yes!! the way Anime is structure is the year is divided into 4 parts (for each season). This allow for 12 episodes cycles. Some series can take more than 1 season depending on the length of the series. Right now the broadcast time is all integrated on these charts so you can watch with some time difference the show for that week, or you can go back and watch a whole season from the past.

Hope you like this post, I will do more Anime Basics in the future. If you have any recommendation on this topic, feel free to comment. Keep in mind I didn't really touch Manga or Doramas. But for the meantime I think is a good intro.
