Today's pick in the Daily Anime Pick-Series where I pick one anime each day that I think is worth watching is Fairy Tail!
Just like Daily Anime Pick #15 - One Piece this anime exceeds the typical length of most shows out there. It is split into 3 parts. The first part is just called Fairy Tail and has 175 episodes. The second part is called Fairy Tail (2014) and has 102 episodes. And the last and final part Fairy Tail (2018) has yet to be released.
It is about an eponymous magic guild Fairy Tail and its numerous members. And even though the description below suggests that Lucy Heartfilia is the main protagonist in this show Natsu Dragneel is probably a better fit. Nonetheless both characters are important. Lucy seeks to join the famous Fairy Tail guild to become a full-fledged celestial wizard and Natsu, member of Fairy Tail, strives to find his foster father Igneel, a dragon. While the anime switches perspective very often meaning that all Fairy Tail members get their fair share of screen time it mainly focuses around Natsu, Lucy and 3 other characters. First of those three is Happy an anthropomorphic cat that always follows Natsu so most of the time when you see Natsu you'll see Happy. Second is Gray Fullbuster, an ice wizard and Natsu's rival. And third is Erza Scarlet a swordswoman. Later in the series there is another character introduced named Wendy Marvell who I call the 6th main protagonist just because I like her. She also has her personal cat named Carla. I included a picture of her below.
The art-style and animation evolves over time and we'll probably see a change in this department in the upcoming Fairy Tail (2018) too. And considering it started 2009 the animation quality is pretty decent and only improved over the years.
The soundtrack is very recognizable and you'll probably like it. I included my favorite opening which is the 22th below. This is the opening for the last arc of Fairy Tail (2014) which tells what happened before and how Fairy Tail was founded. That means you won't see the characters from above in the opening and don't worry it doesn't contain any spoilers.
So if you're looking for a longer anime to watch and like shounen then I'd say go for it!
Description
In the mystical land of Fiore, magic exists as an essential part of everyday life. Countless magic guilds lie at the core of all magical activity, and serve as venues for like-minded mages to band together and take on job requests. Upon being tricked by a man, Lucy falls under an abduction attempt, only to be saved by Natsu. To her shock, he reveals that he is a member of Fairy Tail and invites her to join them. There, Lucy meets the guild's strange members, such as the ice wizard Gray Fullbuster and magic swordswoman Erza Scarlet. Together as a family, they battle the forces of evil, help those in need, and gain new friends, all the while enjoying the never-ending adventure that is Fairy Tail.

Spice and wolf a classic, Clannad , Rosario vampire , Tengo Tenge , Trigun, Black lagoon have seen them a few times love them every time.
Fairy Tail is one of the few battle shounen I have not seen or read. Everyone says it’s the weakest due to the power of friendship solving everything. How much truth is there to this claim?
I can't think of any anime scene in general where the power of friendship bent the story conveniently.
I've seen that many people name Fairy Tail as the number one anime guilty of power of friendship but I don't really know what they mean. I mean it seems logical that working as a team makes one stronger. And of course it boosts morale if you have someone to protect or if someone is there for you.
Since Fairy Tail is a battle shounen you will see the protagonists defeat one strong enemy after another but that's just what a battle shounen is. In the end it comes down to whether you can enjoy it. If you can enjoy it when the protagonist keeps reviving after being defeated without any reason then it doesn't really matter. And in Fairy Tail I don't remember seeing anything that destroyed my immersion but it might be different for you. And judging from what I've heard from you before you probably won't like Fairy Tail but you never know until you try. If you just watch until it's no fun anymore than you at least had fun for some episodes.
And now that I thought of it I remember being very shocked when Wendy did cut her hair during a fight resulting in me looking up whether it would stay this way but that's just because I liked her long hair. And yes, her hair returned to normal after this arc.
