From the Past

in #antiquelast year

Last evening I was at one of the local store, I wanted to buy some things for my home. This shop sells frankincense and different types of essential oils. It's a very old type set up with antiques all over the place. The way the world is galloping in technology, in another 50 years the generation then will consider these things as something from the stone age era. They have their own charm and it also makes us reflect on how far we have come in our civilization, and changed so much. We have progressed making things better and easier for us. Though the new technology imposes it's own challenges and threats, which in the past was not the case.

I clicked the pictures of these antiques to share with you all and walk you down the memory lane, specially for people of my age. And I am sure the younger generation has also seen these things, may be not in real but in museums.

The Telephone, a very old piece, I guess this type of models were used in the 70s. In my home, we had a telephone in 93, which was very much later then rest of the world. Till then we had to always go to our neighbor's home for any calls, which would be very restricted. I would receive a phone call once in a week or so, or not even that. Unlike today where all the time we are on the phone, that was not the case. If I had to make a call, I would go to a public telephone booth and make it from there, which costed so that was also limited. Life is easy now with the gadget in hand but I still prefer those times, when life was so simple.

A camera, I am not even sure which era it belongs to, but looks very old

Lanterns, till 10 years back we still found them in remote villages. I do not think now they are used any more in any part of the world.

A sewing machine and another camera

An old Gramophone. This is a very old one, there are new fancy ones also. These days I am seeing some people getting these things for home just as show items.

This looks like one of those first airplanes built by the Wright Brothers.

Some of the old transports

These were the old switchboards. We still find them in the old houses, and they are so sturdy and still functioning.

The beauty of these things were that they would last years and years and hardly anything got spoilt, very few repairs were needed. They were good quality and sturdy products then compared to now. If technology would have not upgraded and we would have continued using them then probably we would be using these things for years and years like a phone, which normally people nowadays change it once in 3 to 4 years.

Now it is the age of show and not quality.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

They have a lot of old things there
They look nice
I wish I had that old telephone…

This is a very old telephone probably from the 70s

Damn, I really love that lantern. Seems it makes use of kerosene. Back then when things were built with solid materials and they will end up lasting very long. Not this time anymore - just few years of using them, they will start depleting.
Anyway, things look more easier to handle and use now, though.

Ohh, an for that sewing machine! You just reminded me of the one used by my mum many years ago when I was a toddler. She still has it kept somewhere safe. Probably still precious to her😄

Now it's all plastic and they make it in such a manner that the life is short so that people keep coming back for new things.
Ya this type of sewing machine even we had at our home. I am sure it's a priceless possession for her.

That are rare and beautiful products.
These necessary things which you have. You should use it carefully.

Thanks for your support

Ya they are very rare these days

very cool items!! some of them are from my childhood! a lamp, a sewing machine.
I remember our first telephone -like this one, and it was luxury to have it! firsdt telephones at home....it was a real sensation! then we have a better one with a function of detecting the number of the incoming call. Oh...it was another sensation....now we all have smartphones, but they don't raise so many feelings like these ones;)

and lamps...when we have hard 90s, we used them when we had no electricity at home. It was hard times, but I was small, and for me it was just cool evenings when we were spending time playing cards or word games with my parents. Sweet memories;)

did you buy anything? actually, are these items expensive now?

You are so right, these telephones were so much of a sensation. When we got our first phone it was like buying something very big and I would feel like I was so rich to buy a phone...hehe.
These lanterns we had at our aunt's place who lived in a small town, during holidays when we went there it was like so much fun with no electricity. The best thing was that we could hide very easily...haha.
These things were not on sale, just display. The lady loves collecting these stuff.

indeed history is true. Thanks for sharing this with us

This is an wonderful and artistic way of preserving of old memories.

They have done it very well

These antique pieces are so beautiful and unique. Thanks for sharing the picture. It helps our younger generations to know about these things.

Thanx, it's always nice to know these things about our past

The old Telephone looks more familiar to be as I've seen a version of it awhile back in my grandmother's house. These tools were definitely more strong and durable than the ones we have now, which are stylish but with no substance.

Yes, nowadays the life of any product has reduced drastically, be it technology or any other commodity
