... old, he’s following his own advice. He’s playing in the backyard with my 5 year old nephew here (who is just out of the picture frame). His clothes are always ironed and starched, his boots are shined, but he's always quick to crack a joke or be silly. I hope to still have my sense of humor at his age, life tries so hard to take it away.
Just look at those boots, it's so precious having such good memories and still having your Dad around! Yep, life tries very hard but the humor always shines through, such a vital weapon to have, I believe in any case! Thank you for sharing this @ericvancewalton :)
He has a black pair and a brown pair and shines them almost every day. I'm very grateful to still have him around, but wish we lived closer. We live nearly 1,000 miles away but, thankfully, still talk almost every day. Thanks for your comment, @lizelle!
That's too far away!
There are people who teach non-stop, maybe because they don't know they're doing it. Parents are like that! They teach so much, with their actions, their words, their silences. There is nothing more intelligent than a sense of humor. I love people who know how to laugh, and especially those who laugh at themselves and those who make others laugh. Sure, much of it is sown in you. Nice Tuesday, @ericvancewalton.
You are so right, @nancybriti! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a good week.
You're lucky still have a father, Eric. As his son you must be proud of your father. Do the best for him and take care of him with love. Nothing is the most beautiful in this world besides family affection
I absolutely am lucky. He's been through a lot of struggles in his life and has provided my brother and I with a good example to follow.
Looking good at 79! Be grateful for every lesson and enjoy every minute 🙏🏾
Thank you! He's always been very cognizant of his appearance. He grew up very poor and said even if his clothes were were torn and his shoes had holes in them the clothes would be pressed and the shoes would be shined. I'm very grateful to still have him around. It's been nice to do things for him in his older age.
What a happy man he must be. He understands the value in life and what a joy it must be for you to have him as a father.
I miss having mine around.
He's been a good dad, for sure. I'm sorry your father's no longer around!
Thank you so much sir.
Great photo, Eric and your dad are a real example for us all, well done!
Thank you!
A great inspiration for others to follow.
Haha, thats so awesome, I love his hat! To be Young At Heart 💓 living a full life is the best!!
Thanks! He's always been that way. When my brother and I were younger he was never afraid to get down on our level and act childish.
That line is helpful i must say. Sometimes we should learn not to take ourselve too serious
How fun! He is quite the character so good he spends time with the children. Love the boots but the hat is even better. lol
Cherish these times as I know you are.
Your dad seems like superstar. Heartfelt and touching words from you too. Wishing you both the very best. :)
He's an original, @ezzy. Thank you, man! I wish you guys the best as well. We'll be in London (staying in Covent Gardens) in about a month. It'd be great to share a meal or a drink if you a guys are around and up for it.
Let me know, my friend. Me and the wife would love to meet you guys! All the very best... :)
Laughter and Joy prolong life, I believe that is what he trying to get outside there
Nice looking in the photo. Namaste to him 🙏
Right said
When we take our life lots of serious, then we bring unnecessary stress to our life . It is very necessary to stay happy.
So true! We need to laugh and just have fun at times!
Still very active at this age than many of us out there :)
A discipline man he is. I hate ironing clothes.
Never even starch them before in my life.
